Voice Nigeria: Reflecting on 8 Years of Transformative Impact
On May 16th, 2024, we gathered to mark the culmination of an extraordinary journey—the official close-out of the Voice program in Nigeria. Aptly titled “Murya”, meaning Voice in Hausa, the event celebrated eight years of amplifying marginalized voices, fostering inclusion, and driving sustainable change.
Funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by Oxfam Novib and Hivos, Voice has championed the principle of “Nothing about us without us (Now-Us)” across ten countries in Southeast Asia and Africa, including Nigeria. For Cognito, the three years spent as Linking and Learning Facilitators for Voice Nigeria were a remarkable experience that reinforced the power of collaboration, storytelling, and innovation.

On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15 September 2021, Voice Nigeria Linking and Learning (L&L) facilitators, Cognito and NINE, held its first linking and learning event in Zuma Rock Resort, Tafa, Niger State. There were 50 participants in attendance consisting of the Voice Nigeria team, Voice Grantees, as well as the Cognito and NINE team.
