Linking and Learning for the African Activists for Climate Justice (AACJ)
On a mission to unite and amplify African voices in the fight for climate justice, the consortium members of African Activists for Climate Justice (AACJ) gathered for a Linking, Learning, and Planning meeting. Facilitated by Cognito, the event took place in Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling commercial capital. Representatives from implementing countries—including Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Senegal, Somalia, Nigeria, and the Pan-African project in Kenya—along with the Oxfam-Novib team from The Hague, participated in the meeting. Cognito supported the development of the agenda, facilitated sessions, captured key learnings, developed a comprehensive report and created audiovisual content to capture stories from the event.
Facilitating discussions on the intersectionality between social justice and climate justice:
Under the Voice program, in which Cognito served as Linking and Learning facilitators, the Community of Practice on Social Justice was established to champion social justice as an essential tool for addressing human needs and building a strong nation. With a current focus on climate justice, the community received support from Cognito’s team to conduct a national stakeholder workshop to delve into the connection between climate justice and social justice. The workshop was titled: Integrating Climate Action In Social Justice and it took place from the 15th to 16th of April, 2024, in Abuja.
